"Jesus died for the forgiveness of sins—my sins, but also the sins of people that I am angry with or upset with or distressed with. When we say we believe in the forgiveness of sins, we believe in both of those things—that my forgiveness is atoned for and not by my own effort, but by the blood of Jesus, but also that their sins are atoned for not by their efforts, but by the blood of Jesus."
Bishop Alex takes us through the Prodigal Son reading from this past Sunday's lectionary selections, resting on some of the difficulties we may have with accepting forgiveness and reminding us that God seeks us out in the midst of our own doubt.
